Do you have a favorite flower? Draw or cut out a picture of your favorite flower, find out what it means from the Farmer’s Almanac (Farmer’s Almanac) and send a picture of it to Bea!
Have you ever grown a flower from seed? Ask your Reader for some flower seeds (sunflowers or marigolds are good ones to start). Get a plastic cup or plant pot. If your container doesn’t have a hole in the bottom, ask your Reader to help poke 1 or 2 holes into the bottom for drainage. Fill the container with soil leaving about 1” from the top. Poke a hole into the soil about 1” deep. Place your seed into the hole and cover with soil. Water and place somewhere that gets some sun each day.
Count how many days until you see a plant emerge and tell Aunt M. Be sure to tell her what kind of flower you are trying to grow!
Now that you know something about the language of flowers, what flower would you send to a friend to say “I’m sorry” and “Remember me”
